My name is Alice Gayle Welch, Welcome to Pema Image, Fashion, Beauty, Travel, and Lifestyle will be the topics of discussion on the website and my video channel.
As a little girl, I have always been fascinated with people, how they dressed, the colors, the style, and how they put themselves together in fashion, I found out that I truly had a passion for fashion, and it did not matter the gender or culture, the curiosity about the way they dressed, gave me an idea of their identity, the way they dressed, “in my eyes”, was a reflection of themselves. I grew up where the women and men in my family loved to dress, and they always took pride in what they wore, and how it might be perceived to others, everything had to be clean, pressed and uniquely coordinated right down to the shoes. Whenever they went to a party, concert, or a special event, they would ask me my opinion on what they were wearing, and I LOVED IT!!!!, My curiosity suddenly turned into something meaningful. I also grew up where the majority of the women in the family were plus size women, but they always dressed to perfection, from their hair ( their glory), accessories, etc., everything was correct and on point. So of course, some of the trademarks of their character influenced me. I always try to dress my best, always had to coordinate everything that I wore and uniqueness became my weakness, always strived to look my best, but always wanted to look a little different, and I have always been able to see that uniqueness in others too, again, even as a little girl, I would consult and dictate to my family, what they should and should not wear, and what looked best on them. I eventually took that uniqueness to sales/retail, I have sold fine jewelry, clothing, furniture, cars, and I currently am a Fashion Consultant and a Mary Kay Independent Beauty Consultant.
I started Pema (Perry, Ellen, Mary, Ada –my mother’s name and her siblings) Image because I wanted to be a voice for the Plus Size Woman, our needs are sometimes horribly overlooked and often dismissed because we supposedly “don’t fight in” according to society’s standards. The perception of a plus-size person needs to be changed and I am going to strive to do my best to be that voice of change. Will you join me for this journey, let’s take a ride.
